Here is an easy BBQ chicken recipe! We like to put it on a toasted bun for BBQ chicken sandwiches. Tasty! Plus – Dr. Pepper is one of the 4 ingredients…How can you go wrong?!
Servings: 8
Ingredients:
24 oz chicken breast
1 can Dr. Pepper (or any soda)
1 bottle BBQ Sauce (20oz of your favorite variety!)
8 pack of buns
This is truly a dump-it-and-leave-it recipe!
Place the chicken in the crockpot, top with the entire can of soda. Set aside 1/4th (or more) of the BBQ sauce to toss with the chicken later. Top the chicken with the remainder of the BBQ sauce.
Cook on high for 3-4 hours. Towards the end of the cook time, carefully drain the majority of the liquid. Shred with two forks and stir.
At this point, I like to stir in the remainder of the BBQ to coat the chicken.
(Make sure to drain the liquid out of the crockpot when the chicken is done. It’s a lot of liquid, more like a marinade meant to be tossed. Drain it, shred it, and then stir in more BBQ! )
I suggest that you toast your buns before serving! Heap on the chicken, add more BBQ sauce if that’s your preference, and enjoy!
